Trick or Treat

Halloween night we stayed at home and handed out candy to the trick or treaters. Our neighborhood stays pretty busy on Halloween so it was good entertainment for the kiddos. All 3 kids loved handing out candy to the other trick or treaters. I was a proud mommy at their willingness to share!

The 3 Day Rot

So i've said before that pumpkins don't last long here in HI, especially after they've been carved. Here is my case in point.

18 hours after carving--a little bit of shrivel and sag36 hours after carving--much more shriveling and sagging and the pumpkin is starting to lean and sag

60 hours after carving---it's life is pretty much over.
the pumpkin was tilting over and very soft
And this all happened inside. We carved our pumpkins for Halloween night the night before and it was finished--and i mean gnat infested and sunken in within 24 hours of being outside.

Conclusion: Pumpkins and Halloween are FOR SURE made for cooler weather.

Pumpkin Patch

We finally had some time to go visit the pumpkin patch on the Saturday before Halloween. It was pretty hot--which is a bit contradictory to picking out pumpkins and hayrides, but we still had a really good time. Next time we will remember to bring cash so we don't have to return a pumpkin to get enough cash to take a hayride! oops.

Daddy, I like this one.
