Hop in the Park

We tried out Fayetteville's big Easter event, Hop in the Park.  It's hosted by a local church and completely free.  Amongst food, more jumpers than i have ever seen in one places and egg hunts there was a skydiving easter bunny!  

The egg hunts were divided by age. 0-5 was convenient for all three kiddos although it was pretty easy for the twins.  I considered trying to find the big kid hunt for the twins, but in an effort to only stand in one line and keep our family together, i challenged the twins to pick one color egg and see how many of that one color they could get.  They all had fun and of course the candy at the end was the best part!

March Madness

Well it wasn't all madness, but yes there was a lot of basketball playing in the house and that caused a little madness in mommy....

and then there was some self inflicted madness in the form of crafting/creating while trying to balance everything else.  i am however proud of the finished products.  

2 millitary/americana themed bridal gifts for a friend preparing to marry a soldier:

and a wreath with the option of a replacing the stars with a yellow ribbon, although we hope that ribbon just stays neatly in a box somewhere 

 

then another kind of madness that is my life, not just a part of March...laundry.  

piles and piles of laundry.  hey, at least they are all clean yes?  

and for some serious madness...  we are buying a house in iowa.  yep.  surprised us too.  the rental market there was depressing and now that schools are a part of the consideration, finding a home that was big enough for our family, in the right school district and affordable were our top priorities.  This house came available, and we couldn't turn it down.  Praying this will be a good move for us and hey, now i will have plenty of fun projects to do for the next 3 years.  If you can't tell from the outside, the previous owners are a fan of brown both on the inside and outside.  This blog may turn into a DIY diary, beware.  

and then on to other things, like my kids.  that's never madness.

Davis....Macky was crying, he couldn't tear himself from the TV, but at least he moved close to his brother to try and make it better.   

 

and speaking of D, he takes every chance he can get to play with Macky's toys. 

we went home for a short weekend.  Nora got a 'short cut' as she calls it.  that just means she doesn't want much cut off...trying to get Rapunzel status over here!

Nora and I had a little girl time (read: go run errands) but we usually sneak off for lunch while out.  This day was really rainy, so we opted to skip getting out of the car one more time and had a car date at Sonic instead.

Two Month Check Up

Macky had his 2 month check up this month--although he was almost 3 months when we actually went.  He did great and charmed the nurses and doctor with his sweet smiles and coos.  

that was until this happened....

i know.  that boo boo lip was heartbreaking.  it's like he knew it was coming before it even happened. and yes, i took a picture.  i did with the others too...gotta be fair ya know. here are the twins and davis' first shots too if you wanna compare crybaby faces :) 

His stats for 2 months/ 11 weeks were: 

14.6 lbs and 24.25 in long -- very close in size to Davis at this age. 

Last Jump

Minus our time in Hawaii, Mike has been making jumps for the past 15 years.  That totals to around 65+ jumps in both airplanes like C130's and C17's and helicopters like Chinooks and Blackhawks.   Because we are getting ready to PCS to a new base this summer that is not "airborne" for the next 3 years and then our time in the Army after that could possibly be close to an end, Mike may have had his last ever static line jump of his Army career last month.  It was bittersweet for him-- he'll definitely miss the camaraderie and the rush of the jump although i don't think he'll miss the all day waiting game or the body aches afterwards that have come with age ;)

obviously taking pictures while jumping is kind of difficult--especially when jumping from 1200 ft.  that only takes 30 seconds -minute and a half from plane door to ground.   Here is a photo the chalk after Mike jumping out of the plane.

Month.Two

This is our Baby Macky at 2 months--much more alert, chubby cheeks and a crooked one-eyebrow raised look that says "you guys are nuts" on the regular. 

He's still a pretty easy baby and sleeping and eating are still his 2 main jobs.  We have however started to have some short sweet awake times where he wants to interact with you.  The biggest thing to note is his big and sweet smile.  He started showing us signs of a smile around 5 weeks and by 7 weeks he was using it pretty regular with some good eye-contact and parents making a fool of themselves.  Of course, all he had to do was hear his brother Davis' voice and a smile would grace his face.  Even Macky at 2 months thinks Davis is funny.  

Sleep:  On the sleep front, things were pretty normal over here until about 7 weeks.  Then at 7 weeks, we moved him to his room upstairs for nighttime and he showed us he could sleep 7 hours straight...then it was 8 and then one day it was 11 hours.  Mommy and Daddy are very thankful for another good sleeper.   Most nights he goes down around 730-9 for the night (it kinda depends on what we're doing) and then will sleep straight until somewhere between 5-730 the next morning.  We can't ask for more than that. 

Eating: Nursing is still going well.  He loves to do it and I am enjoying it as well.  Although I don't have him on a strict schedule he eats about every 3 hrs...sometimes a little less sometimes a little more.  I let him dictate that for the most part, especially since he sleeps so much at night. 

His likes include: 

-His Sister and Brothers (he always perks up when they are around) 

-the swing 

-his paci 

-being swaddled while sleeping 

His dislikes include:

-baths 

-cold hands and cold wipes 

-cutting his nails

Practice Makes Perfect?

We finally pulled out the play shaving kits the boys got for Christmas this week during bath time.  I'd been saving it for a time they could do it with Daddy, but i had some major bathroom cleaning to do after the stomach bug of last week and needed these kids corralled and occupied--bath time with a new toy is a great way to do it! 

except that they were so cute i had to stop what i was doing to take some cute pics :) 

so serious while shaving that collar bone ;)

of course Norabird didn't want to be left out.  the things you do when you live with a bunch of boys!
