OKI 2014

We had a great time at the beach over the 4th.  The weather was pretty great, minus a tropical storm which gave us a full day of rain--but occasionally days like that can be fun too :)

perfect summer mornings
There was some sand play...like Daddy would work really hard on sand castles and then the kids would destroy them :)

The buckets were still a big hit this year...Nora now had a partner to hang out in the buckets with her.
This girl LOVED the beach and water this year.  She wanted to spend every second of her time down there. We tried our best to oblige.
 the twins played real hard...
and Davis joined in whenever he could
Daddy dug out pools most days for the kids to play in

D really liked to take a chair down to the surf and sit.  That's also my favorite thing to do, so we spent a lot of time doing that.
Nora did so well body boarding with Daddy this year, we took her to get her own board.  She was so excited and proud of herself.

We're very thankful to Pop Pop and Grandma for another fun beach trip.

On our way home we like to stop at Prov Co to get some yummy food...its my favorite place (and lots of other people's fave place too, considering the line that had formed when we were leaving)

Boiled Shrimp, Crab Cakes and Cucumber Salad....ahhhh

Fall Day

Besides going to the balloon festival, we just used that weekend to relax a bit.  Again, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful weekend.  Sunday we spent outside enjoying the day and playing together.

This is the kids first ever experience with fall... not that they've noticed much.  I had to point out the pretty leaves, but now Holden will tell me about the colors he sees.  Nora has noticed fall only because of the weather...she tells me in the mornings that she is cold!  She doesn't no what cold is yet! I do think they are enjoying all the outdoor time though.  Mike and I are definitely happy to be home for the fall this year.  We've probably missed this about the south more than anything else since being in Hawaii.

Just look at those pretty colors!

Daddy and Holden played frisbee...Holden's not half bad!

Pop Pop and Grandma got a trampoline since we were home last.  The kids haven't been on one of these since they were first learning to walk and they were a bit apprehensive.  Nora warmed up to it pretty quickly though when Mike suggested playing "ring around the rosie".  Holden preferred to stay close to Pop Pop this time.

the static electricity was pretty fabulous

Holden also got a quick hair cut...
it's pretty nice having a barber as a Pop Pop!

Hot Air Balloon Festival

Last weekend we went home for a visit and then on Saturday we went to the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Statesville and brought Pop Pop and Grandma with us.

It was the most beautiful day and the kids had a pretty great time--as did we!  We weren't able to make it to the NC Fair this year, but this festival gave us a good taste of some fair food, music and fun.  OF course hot air balloons are so awesome, i don't think you could ever get tired of watching them.
