MC Egg Hunt

The weekend before Easter, we met up with my college roommate, Dee, and her two boys at Meredith for the annual Alumni Easter Egg Hunt.  The kids got to see the Easter Bunny and there were some activities/games too. Honestly, the hunt was disappointing.  I'm not sure what happened exactly, but the 3 older kids only got 1 egg each, and Davis got 2.  We did our best to keep our attitudes positive and totally over-exaggerated how well they did finding their egg so the kids wouldn't be too disappointed or think something was wrong.  They were all happy about the toy/piece of candy they got in their egg and then us parents took them to play at a park and get a treat to make up for the Egg Hunt debacle :)

Davis did LOVE the Easter Bunny.  That child isn't afraid of anything!

the bubble station was a hit, as always with my 3

Davis likes to eat his bubbles.  I'm not sure that the girl beside him thinks that is a good idea :)

Mommy's Weekend Away

a week before mike got back, i had the opportunity to take a little mommy time.  miracle of all miracles ;) most of my meredith girls were able to take a weekend away to relax at the beach and enjoy some 'girl-time'.

thanks to my dad and anne, i was able to take an extra 2 days away to get some other things done, like summer shopping, movie catch-ups and friend time that i hadn't had an opportunity to do in a while.

This is my first picture of the trip...a car selfie!  never thought i'd catch myself doing this, but first time away without kids in close to 2 years deserves a picture, yes?
first stop was visiting this sweet lady.  emily and i met while working at caswell 12 yeas ago. I haven't seen her since my wedding. As much as life has changed since then, it was wonderful to catch up with an old friend and i'm so thankful for sweet friendships that pick up right where you left off!

here's my meredith girls.
megan, sarah lynn, me, jennie, kayla, michelle, and dee.  not pictures due to geographic distances and responsibilities are tara, heidi and amanda.  of course we always miss you guys!
We spent our weekend talking A LOT, playing games, eating, beaching and getting our nails done.  It was so great to catch up with everyone and i can't believe it has taken us 8 years to do this.  spoken plans have been made for next year.  i sure hope it works out again!

a beautiful view to calm my soul
and great friends that make my heart happy
sweet baby audry, who was just one of the girls for the weekend
pedicures.  i didn't get the flip-flop memo.

we rock at games

of course as much fun as i did have, coming home was pretty sweet too.  4 days without my littles made me eager for lots of snuggles! oh how i love my babies.

There's No Place Like MC

(stealing a line from freshman cornhusking...)
before it's officially winter, which is ten days away, i should put up this beautiful fall post.  Heidi, a friend from college who now lives in Washington state, came back to visit about a month ago.  Those of us who could got together for the day to hang out and catch up.  Our first stop was visiting Meredith.  I haven't been there in years and have never taken the kids there.  It was a beautiful, cool, fall day...the perfect time to walk around the campus.  The kids really seemed to like being there, running around and playing in the leaves.

We happened to come visit the day after Cornhusking, so everything was still up from the events that week.  It brought back lots of memories and made me really miss all the fun we had at MC.

I also took the kids through Johnson Hall for a look at all the dolls.  Here's my class doll, Katrina Lynn O'Conner...oh Monograms and Pearls
Nora's birth-year doll, wearing what looks like some Lilly Pulitzer
i love the older doll sand their beautiful dresses!

then we went to Dee's house for all the kids to play and Mommy/Friends to talk ...our kiddo group is getting bigger!

Meredith Reunion

My college girls always try to get together around Christmas this year.  Always it seems someone is missing...this year, Tara couldn't make it :( but the rest of us were able to meet for lunch and hang out the rest of the afternoon.  As always it was great to catch up and get the latest updates on each of our lives.

My roommate Dee has a son just a few weeks older than the twins and she came over early for a playdate.  Of course we took some pictures.

Nora, such a Diva, was sad we made her sit down with the boys instead of hanging out with her Auntie Michelle.  I love how the boys are looking at her confused.

But in true Nora fashion, it was forgotten with a little Woody Distraction and a Silly Daddy!  Holden is relieved she's better now.

getting a good picture of more than 1 toddler is pretty impossible...here's our best attempts

 Nora back with Auntie Michelle
 Holden reunited with Auntie Amanda

just our norm

at lunch we tried for a group shot--of course some weird light appeared across our bellies.
so we tried again, but this time the angle is pretty awful...eh.
