Painting Palms

My mom works at a retirement home and amongst other things, plans activities for the residents to do. So when she booked a painting class at "Wine Down with Nikki Cherry" i was totally game to join in.  This time we painted a palm tree--i've been wanting to do this one to put in the twins "north shore" room.

it was a small class--just 6 of us...the other 4 sat in the back.

what it looked like at the break

painting with this group was quite funny.  we had a good time
up close finished product...mom's skinny tree and my fluffy one!

Valentine Painting

Hope everyone is having a good Valentines Day.  We're waiting for Daddy to get home to celebrate, but here's some pictures from yesterday while the kids were making valentines.  We were a little late on getting them made so grandparents, be looking for your valentine in the mail--just a little late!

Crafty Katie

Nannie Katie is super crafty and brought lots of fun things with her made especially by her for the kiddos. She keeps us stylin'!

These bracelets are super fun. I have some for me as well and Holden wore one today with his board shorts and totally "rocked it". Supposedly the bracelet is supposed to be so easy a "kid" can do it--but after much frustration and practice i am still terrible at it. Thankfully Nannie Katie was here to help me out!
this is a cute bow she upcycled from a thrift store t-shirt. it's adorable. and despite NGB's sad eyes, she likes it too...she was just a little sicky this day :(

BOWTIES!!!

Holden has never been so cute!

Thanks Nannie Katie for all the goodies! We Love You!

Picture Day

The babies had their 1 year photo shoot today. I am very excited to see them! We did a couple of different outfits, a christmas photo and a cake smashing session.

Here are some hints for what is to come....
the 2 tutu's that i made (both for Nora of course!)And here is the babies birthday party invitation...the theme flowed into the cake smashing photo session as well. They were so cute, actually not too excited about the taste of the cake--guess they aren't used to the sweet (i thought it tasted great!), but it was cute watching them explore.

Caught the Craft Bug

Craftiness comes in waves for me...usually though it is stemmed by not being able to find exactly what i want in a store or for the fact that i don't want to pay what the store is asking. The fact is, although i know how to sew and there are times where i must do it, i don't like to sew--especially with a sewing machine. I will however sit and hand-stitch something while watching tv, so that's what i've been doing lately.

I have been making onesies again...these were recent gifts. The whale was supposed to be for Nora, but she grew out of it before i finished it--i'll have to make her a new one and i have a good idea for a matching boy version for Holden. I made a bow to match, but it's just okay. The problem with the bows are i can't find any stretchy lace for the headbands on this island. I'm not sure that i will attempt bows again...i think i prefer to buy them--we'll see.

The owl onesie i am very proud of. My friend Kim decorated her daughter's nursery with the owl theme and i wanted to make little Adalynn a matchine onesie. I do plan to make a similar one for Nora as well! Also, i have been making baby legs. I love the look of baby legs and i really appreciate how they protect knees when crawling and make diaper changes fast and easy. I do not however appreciate the prices of babylegs...who wants to pay $12 a pair? of course i wanted lots of different patterns and then multiply that by 2 babies...it could just plain get out of hand. So anyway a friend showed me how to make my own out of women's knee-high socks (which is what almost all babylegs off etsy are made out of anyway). Now i have tons of babylegs with lots of colors and patterns. Love it.

Well that's it for now... if the craft bug lands on me again, i'll be sure to post the results!

Crafty Me

i know, i know...who has time for this stuff? Since my mom has been here, each night she works on this cross-stitch piece as a way of winding down, and although cross-stitching is SO NOT my thing, i do appreciate the soothing motions of creating a stitch. I personally think cross stitching is too exact for me, i'm more of a free-hander/"eye-it" kind of girl. So anyway, I've been working on this for Holden just a little bit each night while i catch up on my shows and then -voila! last night i finished, whatcha think?

This all stemmed from finding super cute organic onesies (that i just love because they are so soft!) with even cuter designs on them in all these specialty shops, but not being able to afford them. Well okay, technically i COULD pay $18-$25 per onesie, but really, i NEVER WOULD. And anyway, i decided i could make them just as good anyway. So this is my first attempt--i have many more ideas, stay tuned for Nora's first "mommy-made" onesie!
