thank.FUL

Thanksgiving Day was a good day, very similar to how i spent it the first 21 years of my life.... just with 3 additional littles in tow!

We woke up and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, then ate lunch with my mom's family, cleaned up and took a nap then got up and went to eat again with my dad's family.

Holden especially enjoyed watching the parade.  He studied everything and asked lots of questions.
this little one played with her dolls a little more than she actually watched

Little D thoroughly enjoyed his food.  He ate a TON.

Nora's favorite part is always the deviled eggs

Happy Thanksgiving Again

I need to do a little back blogging...lots of things happen this time of year and I can't keep up!  So here is the rest of our Thanksgiving--well the part that I have pictures of.

It has been 6 years since we had spent Thanksgiving with family, but nothing much had changed (except of course for the addition of 3 little ones).  We had lunch at Moms and then did dinner with Dad's family and then the next night we had dinner at Mike's Dad's house.  That's a lot of Turkey!

We only got pics as Mom's though.  The kids went down for nap that afternoon and woke up feeling pretty sick and then we were basically fighting the sickies for the next few days--that and we were too busy talking and seeing people to pull out the camera. But know we had a great time seeing everyone and it was good to be home and celebrate Thanksgiving with all the family.

Davis is ready for his first Thanksgiving meal!

Holden was SO EXCITED to see Uncle Alex.  Alex is the best playmate ever!
Some traditional family pics on the porch.  Holden bit his tongue just as we went out to take these..so excuse his sad face.

Thanksgiving Breakfast

Over Thanksgiving Daddy had been sick and didn't have much appetite.  We wanted to make something special that he would love, so we made sausage balls Thanksgiving morning.  Nora jumped right in and wanted to help out.

So first we washed those little hands...
 wash 'em good Birdie!
pls. no judgements of my appearance...instead we should be proud that i am awake, my kids are dressed and we're making breakfast, yes?
anyway...i tried to teach her how to make balls

the concept of keeping them all the same size was definitely lost in translation, but she was trying her hardest!
Holden decided he wanted to help out too...most of his dough ended up on the floor!

trying out the finished product...it was a success!

Thanksgiving Prep

In preparation for Thanksgiving...

the twins having been learning in school about Pilgrams, Indians, and such...

They got in my car that afternoon and when i asked them about their Indian headdresses/feathers they looked at me funny and said they were pirates.  hmm...i thought to myself they are obviously confused between Thanksgiving and Halloween.  We had been watching lots of Peter Pan movies and Jake and the Neverland Pirates leading up to Halloween, so that's understandable, yes?

Then while my pirate/indians were eating their lunch, i was going thru the kids backpacks looking at all their "makes" as nora calls them and came across this.
We always talk about what they learned/made for the day and when i asked them about this ear of corn, Nora exclaimed it was a chicken and Holden said an airplane...it was at this point that i came to the conclusion they WERE NOT listening in school today.  you think?

in other related news,  Nanny Katie sent a fun bday/thanksgiving present...with 2 more Thanksgiving hats to add to the collection.   the cooked turkey really is my favorite...every time they wear it i get tickled all over again.

and here is last year's hat if you don't remember.
i can't imagine what next year's hat might be..a turkey baster? or a honey baked ham?
