Cabin Life

Sunday afternoon we went to the west side of the island, to Pililau Army Recreation Center where they offer cabins right on the water. We enjoyed it so much we extended an extra day so we could stay 4 days.

I think sometimes people have a misconception of what life in HI is really like. And while i will be the first to admit it is paradise...beautiful weather year-round, always a beach within 30 minutes or less of where you are, never TOO hot, gorgeous views, etc, etc... We still live a pretty normal day to day life around here. This is actually the FIRST time in over 5 years that we have went to stay somewhere to just relax and enjoy the beach and geez...we still didn't stay a full week like i'm used to doing in summers past growing up!. (well i say WE finally took a vacation, but actually it was just me. Mike had to go to work. He totally deserves a vacay away from home..and soon!) Anyway, we had a great time just relaxing, beaching, and i was able to do some fun reading too with Grandma and Grandpa around to help with the little ones! Wish we could live right here in these cabins the rest of our time here in Hawaii. What a life that would be!

The Cabins

Each morning and again in the afternoon after nap we spent on the cabin porch, talking, reading, listening to music, and letting the kids run around. We were surrounded my palm trees with a clear view of the water. It was Perfect!

The stairs were a big hit. they don't get to play on the ones at home because they are too steep. i can safely say they spent about 1/3 of their time right here, climbing up and down...giggling the whole time!

baths were a bit creative...there was no tub and the babies HATE the shower, so one night we used this little container and the next night we used the pool.

we also had a pretty hilarious strawberry shortcake disaster. i mean it tasted good, especially for not having used a recipe...but the shortcake was the heaviest/most dense piece of cake you'll ever eat. I couldn't even eat half of it...

Laundry Helpers

If i'm doing it, they're doing it. Literally. That include folding the laundry--which i really would prefer them NOT to help me with becuase folding a load of laundry now can take my up to 3 times as long as it used to. As hard as i try i can not distract my little girl when her mind is made up to do something and that's how my baiting suit ended up around her neck, my basket of clothes all dumped out on the floor and my underwear up under the couch. Thanks guys ;)

Sea Life Park

We took advantage of an August special and went to Sea Life Park this past Friday. There are lots of interactive activities at the park you can do, but we just went for a few of the shows and to see the cool ocean/marine life. Although before we leave i would like to have a sea lion encounter. They are just so cute! Anyway, besides it being pretty hot with little shade, we had a good day and the babies had lots to keep them entertained.
