Our little one is 4 months old and not so little at all!  He had his check up this month and weighed in at 15.8 lbs and was 25 1/4" long.   He's now surpassing all of his siblings with his growth.  The other 3 really really slowed their growth around 2-3 months but he is doing just the opposite it seems.  I'm amazed at how fast we blow thru clothes.  He is wearing 9-12 month clothes for the most part now--some are the same clothes that Davis was wearing just last spring/summer at 18 months old!

He's still a happy little guy for the most part.  He is starting to be a bit more opinionated about what he's doing and where he's at.  I guess that just comes with the territory of getting older and more aware.  He's quick to give you a huge smile but getting a laugh out of him can be hard work.  He's a sweet one, but kinda serious too.  He's also been a bit fussier this month.  His shots really got him upset this time and Mike and I were actually thrown aback when he was screaming incessantly for a few hours.  Honestly in his 4 months of life we hadn't ever heard him cry like that.  He also has started cutting teeth and its obvious this causes some discomfort some days.  On these days he's whines a lot and just wants to be held.   He actually got kicked out of church nursery last week because of it!  In his defense, i don't think it was that his crying was so bad, but more the fact that the ladies had never heard him do that and just thought something must really be wrong.  When they brought him to me he quieted right down, so i just held him the rest of the night and he became the Sparks Red Team mascot!

Nursing is still going well.  We have hit the 4 month nursing issues of squirminess, clawing, and not focusing.  Those aren't my favorite things but the nursing is still worth it--and it's not like he'd take a bottle anyway!

Sleep is still the same as last month.  He sleeps from 8-4 most nights with an occasional midnight wake up.  Then goes back down until around until 7-8am.  If we are home, he takes 2 long naps and 1 short evening nap during the day.  If we are out and about he just cat naps a lot in his car seat or even in my arms sometimes if he needs to--that's a big difference from the other 3 kiddos.

This month he has really mastered intentionally grabbing things.  He loves to lay under his play gym and look at his toys and either grab or kick them.  The playmat is our most used toy right now--i always have it close by.  Although now it isn't unusual to put him on the mat, walk away and then come back to him off the mat and somewhere else on the carpet.  While on his back he uses his strong legs to push himself backwards around the floor.  Also we pulled out the jumparoo and although he loves to stand up assisted by us, he tires out quickly in the jumper and doesn't seem to love it.  Maybe he'll do better in the coming months.

His LIKES include:
his moose pacifier
sleeping while swaddled
his siblings
the bath
being outside

His DISLIKES include:
the bottle
being left alone
loud noises

here's a few more pics from the 4 month shoot.  gotta love a good hat!

Stitch Fix #3

no, you didn't miss the first two stitch fix blogs...but just to keep it real, it's my third box, first blog.

I tried out Stitch Fix a year ago and really liked it. What is Stitch Fix you ask? Well, because i'm too tired right now to explain it, just refer to this amazing wikipedia explanation here :)  My first box wasn't completely perfect, the pants they sent were too long and a couple of the shirts weren't exactly my style, but i did keep two items.  With my second box I kept it all.  One sweater wasn't my favorite thing and although i love it on the hanger it never looks quite right when i put it on.  That being said, if i bought the other 4 things in the box the odd sweater was basically free because of the 25% off discount you get with keeping all 5 items.  In that box they sent me my most FAVORITE pair of jeans--and good jeans are impossible to come by!

This fix was my first 'post-partum' box.  (insert dramatic music here: Duh Duh Duhhhh) A tall order already for a poor stylist.  Anyway, I have been in desperate need of another pair of good fitting jeans and i have been on the lookout for a good summer maxi, so i sent in my request and scheduled my fix for my birthday.

i just love seeing this box come to my door!

Below are pics of what they sent and me modeling them...just please excuse my "no makeup, unwashed hair, been in that same braid for 2 days" look.  I'm just keeping all those "stay at home mom" stereotypes alive :)  but really, we'd spent the week cleaning out all the nooks and cranny's of our house in preparation for the move in addition to, of course, my normal everyday life with lots of littles, so keeping it real again, make-up and nice hair weren't really a priority.

now on to the important stuff, my birthday fix...

I was sent a pair of jeans and a dress like i asked, as well as 2 shirts and a necklace.

The jeans they sent aren't as wonderful as my first pair, but they still fit good.  As i said, i have been in desperate need of another pair, so of course i kept them.  This first shirt you see is just a casual shirt i could wear out anywhere with the kids.  It was a good fit, very lightweight and loose fitting, perfect for a hot summer and my post-baby tummy.  In all honesty i could have probably found a shirt similar out somewhere for slightly less money, but it was reasonably priced and lets face it, i don't exactly spend my time out leisurely shopping.  So the shirt was a keeper.

this next shirt is a little dressy and another one that i liked when i pulled out of the box when i put it on i wasn't so sure.  Mike on the other hand did like it and thought i should keep it.  I really have no good reason why i don't love it, i mean it fits fine, is comfortable, well made and i usually like lace.  I guess it just didn't scream "jessi" to me so i threw it in the "no thanks"  pile and moved on.
Now the dress they sent was perfect.  i love the print, the fit and the softness of the fabric.  Most of all i love that i can nurse in it.  Dresses this season are not nursing friendly at all.  No doubt, this dress was staying with me.  Now the necklace they sent, i hate.  Okay, that's a strong word.  It'd be nice for a formal, but i would never, ever wear it out and about like my stylist suggested.  Also notice here that I bored my baby to sleep with trying on all these clothes, such a guy :)

now for the breakdown.
the jeans and dress were the most expensive items and added with the casual shirt, my total was only $20 less than keeping the whole box. that's how those sneaky Stitch Fix people get you!  Since I do go to a formal/ball every year or so, the necklace wouldn't be a complete waste to keep and as for the lace shirt, maybe it'll grow me.  For basically free, i don't mind keeping it and giving it a chance :)

So in conclusion, although it wasn't my favorite box they've sent me, i still scored on jeans and a dress and that was all i really all i was wanting--the other is just extra.  I call this one a win and decided to get one more box this summer in hopes to get a few more "cute mom shirts"  and a lighter wash pair of jeans.  I'll let you know how that goes!

and if you want to try it out, here's my referral link :)

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Mike, Holden, Matt and Daniel went to the Durham Bulls home opening game.  It was a bit cold and dreary but the boys had a great time.

love seeing these happy faces on some of my favorite boys!
HRB has learned the art of silly faces
they ate all the fun game foods...hotdogs, pretzels and popcorn

these boys had a great time and thanks to some people around them, they each got to come home with a game ball!

Pancakes and Field Day

For morning snack on field day Daddy prepared pancakes for all the kids in the shape of the first letter of their name.

and then it was time for field day...Mrs. Beth was giving out instructions for the day, notice Davis and Macky in the circle!
taking care of his this kid!
Davis waiting on Daddy to cook pancakes and Nora with her friend Addison--they are excited to be paired together for field day :)
Mike was in charge of the cornhole station
 and Davis dominated that cornhole!

Holden lovin' field day!

 Egg races!
Nora was pretty good at this!
  oh i love this boy
and why are little girls so so sweet?

Macky slept all morning.  I didn't think i'd get to hang around that long between Davis and Macky.  But with Macky sleeping and Davis doing such a good job playing with the big kids we had a great morning with the kids at school!

We've had some pretty busy weekends this month.  This time we had our yearly military ball to go to.  Dad and Anne came to take care of the kids, once again Macky didn't take his bottle and I had to run home and feed him.  Thankfully it was a lot closer this time and I was able to get back quickly and still have some fun!

Mother's Day

Mothers Day this started a little early with Muffins for Mom at the twins preschool on Friday.  These cute pictures are from that day.

and then at the school with my babies who made me a mom

Mother's Day was super rainy and we didn't get any great pictures, but we did have a nice day.  We spent a slow morning together and then went to lunch at Mash House.

how i woke up...babies, babies and more babies. The beautiful reality of being a mom.

We also had birthday cake for breakfast because the day before was so busy with wedding festivities.  Just look at how beautiful my cake was!
