Month.Ten

Oh, Macky.  I'm writing this one to you.  I'm a little behind here.  Enough behind i'm not exactly sure what was going on when you were 10 months.  I got some cute pics of you though even though it was impossible to keep you still. You're a happy boy and so fun to be with.  You are a great mix of both curious/ willing to explore while still being snuggly and all baby-like.  Everywhere I go people comment on your reddish hair and how good you are--"angel baby" is a term bouncing around the church nursery :) I have to agree!

I do know that right around this time you started really saying some words.  It was an explosion really.  All of sudden you were saying Momma, Daddy, more, all done, brother (or some form of it), night night, bath, and more.  Also around this time you really took a liking to bouncing.  Which is what you're doing in the pictures below.  You think it's absolutely hilarious to bounce in your chair or on our tummies and we think it's hilarious watching you laugh about it.

So Macky, your family, all 4 of us, we adore you.  And i'm sorry i didn't keep such detailed records of all of your little habits and accomplishments.  Guess it just takes a little more time taking care of four littles and as i'm trying to just soak it all in not as much is getting written down.  Love You Baby and love all the sweet moments you've brought to my life.

 

N.o.V.e.M.B.e.R

let's see if i can remember all the way back to November!  

The USO sponsors monthly father/kid night out's at local Quad Cities establishments.  In November, they got to go skating.  This was the first time at a skating rink for this Burns Trio.  I think they were pretty excited about it!  and I think Mike was pretty brave to take on teaching 3 kiddos to skate at one time!

The kids also had an "engineering project" at school this month.  They had to build a backscratcher (to go along with a story about a bear who had an itch).  They were giving a bunch of supplies to choose from.   In the picture to the left you can see H and N's finished project.  Such a great example of how different they both are.  Holden's is simple, effective and to the point.  I assume he was tasked to use at least 2 objects, otherwise i can hear him now pointed out that the fork would be fine to use on its own.  Nora on the other hand used everything available to her.  Sturdy and effective, it was not, but you can tell she really tackled the project with creativity and abandon.  The picture on the right is a zoomed in shot of how she taped the wadded up rubber band to the popsicle stick.  

We had a bout with a stomach bug in the middle of the most beautiful fall week.  Nora was at school and healthy but my other boys were home.  We decided to break all the rules and venture outside to get some fresh air.  Sometimes that's the best medicine you could take.

The Big Six

The twins birthday is right around Thanksgiving and that always makes it little bit of a whirlwind...just trying to fit it in/ find a time when everyone is in town and free so we can celebrate.  This year, instead of having one big party, we had a couple small celebrations.

We celebrated with some family friends of ours, as well as Pop Pop and Grandma since they were still in town.  Then on their actual birthday we had a playdate/ice cream sundae party after school with some school friends.

that night they had a sleepover...they already share a room, so they shared a bed instead on this night.  i went to check on them later and found them all snuggled up.  love my twinsies! 

Thanksgiving and Our First Visitors

Pop Pop and Grandma came to spend Thanksgiving with us. There flight got in late Wed night, but since the next day was a holiday and there was no school I woke the twins up to go to the airport with me.  It may have been midnight but there were awake and excited! 

 

  

 

We did a couple of tourists things, like go see Antique Archaeology, but mainly we spent time at home hanging out together and getting some good playtime in! 

 

And everyone needed haircuts, including Macky!  It was his first and he wasn't a fan.  

 

 and of course since it was Thanksgiving, we had LOTS of cooking to do! The kids helped make the pecan pie and the pumpkin tarts.  Holden was also very interested in the turkey prep (ugh!)
