Galberry Farms

The twins preschool did their annual pumpkin patch field trip at Galberry Farms again this year.  It was the perfect weather for fall fun...cool and sunny! Galberry Farms have also added some new stuff to do this year.  We've tried a few different patches in the area, and in my opinion this one is perfect for younger/preschool age kids.

and just to make this an extra long post full of 'too cute' pictures.  here's our annual fall pumpkin patch pictures.  Galberry Farms didn't have much of a setup this year, so we stopped to take pictures at a cute nursery on the way home.

NOBalloon Fest

We went back to Statesville this past month to check out the Carolina Balloon Festival.  We went 2 years ago and had a great time.  The twins don't remember going though and Davis was about 4 weeks old at the time, so we wanted to take them back.

It was a beautiful day.  The kids had fun playing games, eating fair food and playing with each other outside...

but i'm sad to report....

we saw NO BALLOONS.

the wind picked up and it wasn't safe enough to fly them.  they still blew them up and lit them up for the nighttime viewing, but we couldn't stay that late.  we had already stayed for almost 5 hours and skipped naps.  The kids were getting restless, tired and hungry for real food...so we packed it up and headed out.  I don't think the kids ever did understand what they missed, although us adults sure did!  That was a lot of driving for no balloons.  And then i heard the next day, it was apparently the best weather/conditions the festival had seen in years.  Figures.

if you want to see what it was supposed to be like, check out this post from 2 years ago.

Grow and Build

A Saturday morning Lowe's run turned into a fun morning for the kiddos.  How can you say 'No' to 6 little eyes pleading to make Haunted Houses?
yeah, you can't.  just look at this face!
Davis was into hammering his house for about a minute... he preferred to hammer all the other lumber laying around...and steal our nails!

so proud of their houses!

OKI2014 Part Two!

We were lucky enough to go have two beach weeks again this summer thanks to some great parents/grandparents! Thanks so much for a fun and fabulous week Nana and Poppy!

This trip was taken the first week in October and WOW- the weather was perfect!  The kids had a great time as expected.  These three littles just LOVE the sand and water and i really love watching them have so much fun.
This is our second beach trip in a row and apparently we already have a tradition...matching shirts, ha. Here we are looking totally touristy with our matching shirts on the pier :) by the way...Aunt Diane was with us at the beach again this year, but somehow she missed out on this experience???

what's that Nora is wearing on her back, you ask?  her Meow.  If we'd let her she'd never leave home without Meow.  We don't let her take her out most of the time, but sometimes for the 'big events' Meow gets to come experience it too... in this case, seeing the fishing pier and taking family photos :)

Beautiful Morning Views

Digging Holes is the Daddy and the kids favorite beach activity!

same outfit...another year.  Oh i love this boy!
We had lots of yummy food this week also!  Most exciting--we ate at Prov Co twice!  Once we enjoyed a beautiful sunset evening and then as always, we ate there for lunch before heading back home.

There was one rainy day while at OKI.  On this day the ladies went shopping in Southport (sorry no exciting pictures :) and the guys and kids rode the ferry to the aquarium.

what is it with kids and ceramic animal statues?

Visiting Pop Pop and a Haircut

While home visiting Katie we stopped in to see Pop Pop at work.  Having a barber for a father is highly convenient and haircuts happen just about anywhere...but rarely in the actual barber shop! So while this was not Davis' first hair cut, is was his first "legit" cut in the cool chair.  Needless to say, he's not quite the pro at sitting still like his brother is, but Pop Pop's a professional, so no big deal!

Meet the Kirkpatricks

Well this post has been over 2 years in the making.  One of my best friends, Katie, and her husband Tim have been involved in a long and often stressful adoption process.  I've been hearing about these sweet girls and listening to all of Katie's struggles and frustrations over this adoption for a long time now.  I'm happy to announce that the girls FINALLY got to come home to live with Katie and Tim this past spring.

We were able to meet them this past month when the Kirkpatricks came to visit NC.  I loved watching our kids play and they had great time since Zilmita and Camilia are just a few months older than the twins.  Our other highschool bestie, Heather, and her husband Chris were able to come hang out for dinner one night too.  Below is a picture of all of our kids.
