October

whenever i do these monthly random posts i always see the pictures from the first of the month and think "man that was a long time ago" but yet it seems time just flies...

anyway, here's the rest of October cuteness...

like this kid, sneaking his snack cup into the bath.

some belly pics at 25 weeks with my LittleD

an "off day" for littleD meant good snuggles for Mommy. I think he slept this entire day away--no fever, no other sick symptoms.  Just seriously tired.  He woke up fine the next day.
a little sadness over missing his friend Jack.  I found Holden upstairs looking through these pictures one day-- he continued looking at it off and on for the next few days.  The hard part of military life... i think holden feels it hardest right now because although we've made new friends this summer, they are mostly girls.  Even though he seems to enjoy playing with them (nora was the only girl in a group of boys just a year ago...) i think he misses his best friend and his "boy time".  I understand. I miss Jack's mom everyday too.
On a brighter note, Nora and i had a little lunch date.  She LOVES going to Zoe's Kitchen as do I--so we try to sneak away every once in a while for "girl time".
Our usual is hummus, pitas, greek salad and some fruit.

oh this smile.... infectious

At Rachel's baby shower... she's 9 weeks ahead of me. This is us at 28 weeks and 37 weeks.  And then with our big girls at our sides.  Nora and Adelyn played dress up the entire time and then were very excited at present time--even if none of the gifts were for them!

i've not been documenting this one too well... that's what happens the more babies you have.
i'm trying to hit the milestone weeks at least.  Here's me at 30 weeks.  I can't believe it's coming up so fast!

Nora's dance class got to wear their costumes the week of Halloween.  I figured most of the girls would be wearing princess dresses, so i told Nora she could wear one of her princess dresses too instead of her Star Wars costume.  She chose her Batgirl tutu.  Her daddy was so proud!

Nora and her friend Hannah
it's almost impossible to get good photos during class...she's at the end beside elsa

Nora eating more salad.  Her sudden love for salad is funny, but so welcome.  We went to Cheesecake Factory and the girl just wanted a salad!

and then this kid is all about the cookies

and did you know Darth Vader liked cookout milkshakes too?

lastly, Papaw Sam came to visit and  he and Mike took the kids to their first hockey game.  It was military appreciation night so they got in free and got seats right at the glass.  Holden came home so excited to tell me that "the good guys and bad guys got in a lot of fights and they had to go to timeout!" I'd say that about sums it up.

First Ever Fishing Trip

The twins and Mike got to go fishing with Papaw Sam this past month.  They had a great time and even got to drive the boat!

but most importantly, lets get on with the fish!
Nora's' first ever catch...

and Holden's first catch...doesn't he look a lot like Davis here?

The Falcons

I mentioned soccer in an earlier post--but here's the synopsis of our first season playing soccer--or any sport for that matter.

first of all, the kids had fun and that's what matters to us, especially at their age.  just look how cute they are in their team jersey's on their first game day!

The rest of my opinions are a not quite as good.  We played with the soccer league on base.  I was less than happy with their lack of organization (amongst other things) and next time we will be searching off base for a different league.

The twins missed qualifying for the 4 yr old league by ONE DAY.  (and don't get me started on how i tried to sign them up last fall and i was told they were too young!) So they played an a 6 yr old team.  Most of the kids had played at least 3 seasons and absolutely knew what they were doing.  The twins were basically lost--not getting any of the basic beginner instruction and the coach didn't seem to really care.  I'm not sure they ever really understood the game and they definitely aren't aggressive so they never touched the ball.  On the bright side...they got good exercise running around the field.

All of that being said, we didn't arrange all of plans to make every game--we actually only made about half.  I'm pretty sure their team, the falcons, won almost every game though because we had some pretty amazing little players on our team.  All in all, it was an interesting learning experience--and we're hoping our next team sport (hopefully t-ball this spring) goes better.

here's some other pics from games

and here is a funny video of Nora being goalie.... probably the highlight of the season for us :) typical Nora fashion...celebrating her one good deed and missing everything happening around her!

Friday Flick

remember when i posted a movie each week?  well don't get too used to it, but this one is TOTALLY worth watching.

i've seen other friends take video interviews of their kids on/around their birthday's. it's a good idea.  one i wish i had thought about years ago when the twins were teeny tiny...but better late than never.

So here is Davis at 2 years old.  He had no interest in sitting still or staying on topic, which is typical.  I may try again to see if i can get some real answers from him, but in all reality this video captures Davis perfectly.

And that hat/beret was all him.  He just loves to wear other peoples clothes/accessories.

Trick or Treat

another Halloween...another theme...but this time Mom and Dad joined in too!
I feel we should have waited another year so we could have had an R2D2 or a Ewok...but i'm not sure we have too many more themed Halloweens in our future.  Mike and I basically had to bribe both Nora and Holden to do this.  Holden was insisting on being Darth Vader (he ALWAYS wants to be the bad guy) and Nora of course wanted to be Elsa.

i'm not ashamed to say, i told them that if they'd wear luke and leia, we'd still get them the other costumes-- not a hard proposal with birthdays and christmas in the near future :) They bought it AND enjoyed their Luke and Leia costume anyway.  Turns out Nora's best friend, Adelyn, was Princess Leia too (cause her brother is an avid Star Wars fan as well) so it turned out to be the "cool" thing to do after all.

oh, i just love these faces!

trick or treating with neighbors, Riley and Rory or Anna and Elsa!
they were seriously SO EXCITED they couldn't stop running!  this preggo mom gave up after 2 streets, but dad helped them finish up the neighborhood (or at least half of it).  Our final candy haul ended up being close to 4 gallons bags full! We'll never finish it all, i'm certain!

Halloween at the Museum

to start off our Halloween fun...and get some good use out of these great costumes...we went to the Children's Museum for some games and crafts.

They got to make their own treat bags...

play games and most importantly win prizes...

and then make a snack....
it was a "dirty bandaid".
just typing that made me want to vomit, and honestly i think Nora felt similarly...but even with the gross factor that girl can never turn down icing!

P.Y.O.P

Paint Your Own Pumpkin, of course!

we're still not into the carving yet...and really--the kids get to be more hands on with the painting/decorating.

It was such a busy month, we didn't get this done until the day before Halloween.  We decided on making a cat and a bat this year.

"messy boy" ~in the words of Davis

 and the finished products...
Meet Cat

 and Bat

and in normal Davis has to say hello and touch them every time he walks by...
and just yesterday, he exclaimed while at breakfast..."I NEED 'EM, PUMPKINS!"
