One of the main goals while Katie was out here was to go visit the cupcake bakeries.
There are 2 main cupcake bakeries on Oahu, Hokulani Bakery and Cake Couture. We first stopped at Hokulani. They had some interesting flavors that catered a bit more to the Hawaiian crowd...like lilikoi, guava, and coconut. They bakery itself was little more than a corner shop cluttered and messy on the inside with a cute curbside appeal. Katie and I tried the Peanut Butter, Coconut, Snickerdoodle and Carrot Cake cupcakes. They were just okay in our opinion. Good Icing and flavor but a little dry and nothing spectacular. If I were in the neighborhood i would definitely stop by, but this isn't a store i would drive out of my way to go to again.
The next day we went to Cake Couture. This place did not disappoint. I absolutely love it. Although the service inside is a bit lacking, the store is very cute and the cupcakes are pretty much perfect. We had Pumpkin, Red Velvet and Mocha cupcakes. MMM....just thinking about it makes me want to make the 45 min drive right now!
